"Nobody is going to read this. So it doesn't matter."

"Nobody is going to read this. So it doesn't matter." Is my new mantra. The internet is an infinitely growing monster that wreaks havoc on our attention span that is getting shorter and shorter. So this post will probably get buried in all the noise. Hence my mantra.
This sounds quite nihilistic and negative, but I find it actually really positive and effective for me. Because for the longest time the following two things held me back from writing.

1: I normally think like this: "Nobody is going to read this. So why write something?" But turning it around now to: "Nobody is going to read this. So let's write anyway!" is a small but powerful change.
2: I've always had this fear that everything you do on the internet will somehow come back to you like a boomerang in an unfortunate way later on in life. Maybe it will prevent you from getting a job 5 years from now because of something you posted when you were 19. But in fact: the opposite is true. Nobody really cares, and "nobody will read this. So why not write anyway?"
You might think: What's the big deal? Not caring about what other people think is such a well-known, cliché piece of advice given all over the internet and in self-help books.
But reading it in a book vs. experiencing it for yourself is completely different. Because for me it feels like a wall has come down now. For the longest time, this fear of what other people might think has been looming in the background. And I've given it the chance to stay there unnoticeable for far too long.
So this is me basically saying: I'm starting again. Last year has been such a weird year with so much being put on hold, and now I feel things are going to start again. I feel good about it. I want to use my voice again, and I guess writing this is a new beginning in doing that. Just a little story in the midst of all the social media chaos that no one will read.
Meanwhile, I've recorded 5 brand new songs with my awesome band in the studio last month and we are really excited to release them later this year. So there is something really cool to look forward to!
For the people who did make it this far: thank you so much and I will keep you guys and gals posted!
